The Tidal Bore Lookoff
The mighty tidal bore occurs twice daily, as the tide comes in. The park has a Lookoff point that provides the perfect vantage point to watch as the wall of incoming tidal waters creates whitewater of up to 3 meters.

Atlantic School of Skydiving

Burntcoat Head Park
During the Triassic Period, Nova Scotia lay in the tropics just north of the equator in a deep rift valley. Burntcoat Head Park has yielded skeletons of creatures that lived and competed with the early dinosaurs. Bones of these animals are sometimes found in the rocks of Burntcoat Head.

Canada’s Oldest General Store
Frieze & Roy is Canada’s oldest continually run general store. Come get an ice cream cone on a hot summer day or enjoy their café or takeout while overlooking the Shubenacadie River.

Lawrence House Museum
Informative and entertaining guided tours include an indoor exhibit depicting the community of Maitland, a scale model of the “great ship” and 23 period rooms. View the heirlooms collected by the Lawrence family during their world travels.

East Hants Historical Society
The museum, located in the former Lr. Selma United Church (1865), is a designated Municipal Heritage Property. It is a repository for documents, photos, artifacts and other ephemera pertaining to East Hants. The research library is a valuable resource for genealogical research.
Butcher Hill Falls
Butcher Hill Falls, also known as Higgins Mills Falls, consisting of a striking 50 foot vertical plunge into a deep pool, which then empties, cascading down a 20 foot rock slope. An easily approachable site, with ample oppurtunity for good photography.
McMullough Brook Falls
If you enjoy hiking, don’t miss this 500m hike into the woods to view these falls which split at the top, forming distinctive side by side waterfalls. Viewing them from the opposite bank you can see both at once.
